(PHOENIX)– When it comes to food insecurity, Arizona is among the worst states. According to United Food Bank, one in five adults and one in five children are food insecure. That means they don’t always know whether their next meal will be safe and adequate.Chandler dentist J. Philipp knows how important good food is to oral health. That’s why he’s taking part in United Food Bank’s “Christmas in July” drive. With no school lunch available and higher electricity bills, summer can be even tougher for struggling families to put food on the table. Dr. Philipp and his staff are encouraging donations to help Arizonans in need.
During the month of July, people are being asked to bring food or cash donations to the office at 3230 S. Gilbert Road, Ste. 4, Chandler. Patients who make donations will receive 10 percent off a restorative or cosmetic procedure which includes fillings, crowns, bridges, whitening and Invisalign.
Most needed items:
Peanut butter
Canned meat
Canned fruit and vegetables
Whole-grain, low-sugar cereal
Soup, stews, chili, beans
Canned milk
Rice, pasta
Cash donations
Please, no glass jars, baby food or opened items.
